“I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” - Malcolm x
Unity Proclamation. The Muslim Retreat acknowledges and educates about the consequences of racism, discrimination, prejudice and cultural appropriation that exists and has affected BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & People of Color) in our communities for centuries. It is important that we learn about our privilege and move out of ignorance and into a community that actively supports education, change and movement. At The Muslim Retreat, we do not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind, in our programs, events, retreats or in any of our online meeting spaces. There is a compliance when we are silent and do not discuss the injustice in the BIPOC communities. We are dedicated to ensuring there is accessibility, inclusivity and a safe place where we have opportunities to learn. The dignity of our community is of utmost importance and we commit to making changes to uphold the respect and equity you deserve. The Muslim Retreat is meant for you to come as you are because you are loved and welcome in our space. Speak up and out against racial injustice and help us heal broken hearts from the separation of society has tried to maintain between us. Join us in compassion and kindness to ensure humanity is restored and respect and dignity is maintained in our community. Sincerely,
